As some of you may know, several years ago Bette Loiselle and I developed a class on fundraising for future conservation and development professionals (LAS 6291, a TCD Skills Class). To learn about crowdfunding — what works, what doesn’t, how to promote campaigns, etc. — we ask our students to launch a crowdfunding campaign to support their summer field season or internship activities. Our students’ projects are now live, and they are an eclectic mix of research, community engagement, and environmental conservation. Please help us by spreading the word about these projects and supporting them in any way you can! You can follow the links below to their project pages on Kickstarter.com and YouCaring.com
- Nick Dowhaniuk (Geography / Environmental & Global Health) is working with communities to improve health in northern Uganda.
- Simon Parsons (Latin American Studies is bringing the Amazon to America’s kids with her art
- Suman Jumani (Soil and Water Science) is studying and conserving some of the last wild rivers in India
- Vratika Chaudhary (Wildlife Ecology & Conservation) is doing research on some of the most elusive – and beautiful – of the world’s wild cats.
Please support them in any way you can, including spreading the word about their projects on Facebook, Twitter, and your networks. We will keep you posted on their progress.
Thanks and good luck to our students!
